A Typical Meeting

During most Park City Toastmasters meetings, we generally start with a brief humorous story or joke before our Table Topics discussions, which challenge members to think on their feet.

During Table Topics, members deliver off-the-cuff remarks ranging from one to two minutes in response to questions posed by the member serving as Topics Master. Questions may reflect current events, famous quotes, personal experiences and interests, or virtually any other subject. The point is to think of, and organize, your response quickly and coherently.

After a short networking break, we move into the prepared speeches portion of the evening. Members ranging from beginners to those who have achieved Toastmasters’ highest designations share their thoughts in speeches that generally range from five to 10 minutes or so.

During these speeches, you’ll learn from your fellow members about delivering speeches effectively, you’ll probably laugh, and you’ll be inspired by techniques you can incorporate into your own speeches.
